Sean Payton Moving To Dallas; No Reason To Panic, Saints Fans

Now that the Super Bowl is over, you’d think we could stop talking about Dallas for a while. Lord knows they’ve gotten a lot of attention recently. Well, guess again.

A day removed from the Super Bowl, we have our first juicy off-season rumor-starter. New Orleans Saints head coach is moving his family to a Dallas suburb. Ed Werder from ESPN reported this morning that Saints head coach Sean Payton will be moving his family there. Naturally, the Payton-to-Cowboys rumors followed shortly-thereafter. While Jerry Jones just signed long-time assistant Jason Garrett to a four-year deal, it's not unheard-of to think that Jones would turn around and hire a Super Bowl-winning coach while he had the chance.

Throw in the fact that Payton has ties to the Cowboys, whom he worked for under Bill Parcells, and there’s enough to make this rumor stick.

Of course, that rumor has been shot down by the Saints. And rightfully so.

Plus, technically Payton and his family will also have a home in the New Orleans area.

Confirmed that Sean Payton, family are moving into Dallas-area home, but they will also maintain New Orleans-area home. So it won’t be a...situation where he’s “commuting” into work from out of town. Such arrangements are very common among pro sports coaches.

Canal Street Chronicles thinks that Saints fans don’t need to be worried for the moment, though they should probably become closet Cowboy fans just in case.

The only cause for worry would seem to be if/when the Cowboys start underachieving again. Maybe we should all hope that Jason Garrett is able to get the job done to Jerry’s liking next season and beyond. If his seat becomes a hot one at a time when Payton’s Saints contract comes close to ending, that’s when it’ll be time to worry.

Consider this one dead in the water. Until the Cowboys start the season 0-2...
