Paul Pierce will defend his title at the Foot Locker NBA Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend, but he will have to fend off one of the best scorers in the game and a teammate that is closing in on the NBA record for most career three-pointers made. The NBA just announced that the field for the event will include Pierce, Celtics teammate Ray Allen, Kevin Durant of the Thunder, Daniel Gibson of the Cavaliers, James Jones of the Heat and Dorell Wright of the Warriors.

Five of the six contestants are shooting over 41 percent from three-point range this season. Durant (34.7 percent) is the only one that isn’t, but he is also the NBA’s leading scorer. Allen leads the group at 45.7 percent, with Gibson (44 percent), Jones (42.8 percent), Wright (41.7 percent) and Pierce (41.1 percent) following him.
Pierce won the event last year by nailing 20 shots in the final round to defeat Golden State's Stephen Curry and Denver's Chauncey Billups in the final round. This will be Allen's sixth appearance in the contest, with one victory (2001) already under his belt. Gibson participated in 2008, while the other three contestants will be making their first appearance.
