Los Angeles Clippers Vs. Orlando Magic: Blake Griffin Looks To Extend Orlando’s Slump

(Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic have just one win in their last four games and will try to get back on track tonight at Amway Center versus a Los Angeles Clippers team they have dominated in the past.

Orlando has beaten the Clippers eight straight times and posted a 94-85 win in this series back on Dec. 12 at Staples Center. Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson finished with 22 and 17 points, respectively, in that one for the Magic, winners in four straight as the host in this series.

The Magic are coming off a 91-80 loss in Boston on Sunday, as Howard scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a battle between Eastern Conference heavyweights. Jason Richardson and Nelson both ended with 10 points, while Ryan Anderson netted 12 for Orlando, which trailed by as many as 16 points and shot a dreadful 3-of-24 from three-point range.

"I was awful. I could not find anything for us to run to get a decent shot," said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. "I didn't know who to play. I really did a poor job today."

Van Gundy's squad is back in the Magic Kingdom to play eight of nine games in front of the home crowd. The Magic are 18-7 at Amway Center this season.

The Clippers will continue their Grammy Awards road trip Tuesday and have lost three in a row, including the first two tests on the 11-game trek. In Sunday's 97-79 setback in Miami, Blake Griffin led the way with 21 points and 16 rebounds for Los Angeles, which has dropped five of seven games and six in a row on the road. LA is only 3-17 as the visitor and its 79 points against the Heat were a season low.

"No one shot the ball very well for us," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "We just couldn't put enough offensive pressure on them at all."

Randy Foye scored 15 points and Baron Davis contributed 14 points and six assists for Los Angeles, which will also visit New York, Cleveland, Toronto, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Oklahoma City and New Orleans before returning to southern California on Feb. 25 to play the role as road team in their own building against the Lakers.

The Clippers will continue to toil without top guard Eric Gordon, who's out with a balky wrist. Gordon is averaging a career-high 24.1 points per game.

Griffin now has posted a double-double in nine straight games and 42 overall this season.
