The law of averages says that the Cleveland Cavaliers have to win a game at some point. But it looks like the team that lost LeBron James is going to try to play the odds for a little while longer.
Cavaliers Lose 26th Straight Game 103-94 To Pistons, Tied For American Pro Record
The Cavs dropped their 26th straight game Wednesday, losing to a Detroit Pistons team that Cleveland was actually favored to beat, 103-94. By coughing up the game to the second-worst team in the Central Division -- albeit one that's now won 2.5 times as many games as Cleveland -- the Cavaliers have now tied the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the longest skid in American pro sports history.
Antwan Jamison and Ramon Sessions “led” the way for the Cavs, with 22 and 20 points, respectively. J.J. Hickson added 18 points. That was far short of what was needed to defeat the Pistons, even though Rodney Stuckey was the only player to crack 20 for the Pistons. Detroit also got 17 from Will Bynum and 13 from Charlie Villanueva.
The Cavaliers, who have not won since a week before Christmas, are next scheduled to play the 19-32 Clippers at home Friday. That game is followed by a Sunday showdown with 14-37 Washington. If they remain winless through those games and match-ups with the Lakers and the Rockets, the Cavs will then face the New York Knicks -- the last team Cleveland defeated.
