The New York Jets traded RB Leon Washington to the Seattle Seahawks last year for a fifth round pick and it sounds like the Seahawks are ready to hang onto him for a while. Agent Alvin Keels tells Josina Anderson of FOX 31 in Denverthat Washington and the Seahawks have an agreement in principle on a four-year contract.

The total money is unknown at this point and it’s also unclear when it will become official.
Washington’s contract was expiring as he signed a one-year restricted free agent tender in 2010. He had a solid special teams year with the Seahawks with three touchdown returns. He wasn’t a significant part of the offense with just 27 rushing attempts and nine receptions last year.
The Seahawks also have RB Marshawn Lyncha and RB Justin Forsett under contract.
In 2006, the Chiefs traded a fourth round draft pick to the Jets for head coach Herm Edwards and the Jets used that pick on Washington.
Many teams have shied away from signing players to long-term contracts with the CBA expiring this week.
