Ryan Braun Has Rib Injury As Brewers Lose Another Star

Already without ace starter Zack Greinke for a handful of weeks, the Milwaukee Brewers got some more bad news on the medical front on Saturday when slugger Ryan Braun had to leave a game with a rib injury.

Braun played the top of the first in the field but was removed from the game prior to his at bat in the bottom half. The reason? He had strained the intercostal muscles along his left side - the little muscles in between his ribs. He was replaced by outfielder Chris Dickerson.

This could end up being pretty minor. What’s concerning is that Braun has struggled with intercostal strains in the past, and it’s never good when an injury has a precedent. These things can linger and you have to take great care to make sure they’re healed completely before testing them out again after a strain.

So, we’ll see. The Brewers will hope that Braun is okay, but there’s a chance this could put his Opening Day status in jeopardy. For more, be sure to check out Brew Crew Ball.
