2011 NFL Draft: Auburn QB Cam Newton Profile
Auburn University Quarterback, 6’5, 248 pounds, Junior
College Offense: Modified Spread; Projected first round pick at quarterback
A story you might not know about him: Newton’s dream is to one day own a children’s day care facility. A polarizingfigure off the football field, to kids at Wrights Mill Road Elementary School in Auburn, he’s just a friend. Since last summer, Newton has dedicated one day a week to working with kids at the local school. Most of his time is spent working one-on-one with fourth and fifth graders. After appearing on The David Letterman Show following the Heisman Trophy presentation, Newton donated the money he received from the show to the kids at Wrights Mill. You can bet there’s going to be more heading their way in the coming months.
Comparable to which NFL Player: Some say he's like Vince Young without theattitude. He reminds me more of a young Donovan McNabb back when he stillhad speed. While Newton is bigger, he should be able to pick up yards on theground like McNabb did in Philadelphia. Another comparison is Ben Roethlisberger. It's an easy comparison becausethey are similar in size and have powerful throwing arms. The big difference of course, is Newton is much faster.
