Brandon Morrow had a breakthrough season for the Blue Jays in 2010, striking out 178 batters in 146.1 innings while making 26 starts. He then came into camp in 2011 looking to carry over his success, and he's been able to do that, allowing one run in 12 innings. Certainly, things have been looking up for Morrow. That is, until now.
Brandon Morrow Has Forearm Inflammation, Will Visit DL
Morrow to start season on DL with right forearm inflammation.
This is the first we've heard of anything being wrong with Morrow, and while it could be minor, there's reason to worry. Forearm injuries are often noted as a precursor to ligament damage and Tommy John surgery, as we saw with Stephen Strasburg last summer. We'll have to await further word before we arrive at any conclusions, but for the time being, this is a red flag.
The Blue Jays will hope that Morrow only has to miss a few turns before he's able to come back. The good news is that, with arms like Kyle Drabek and Ricky Romero, the team's rotation is still in decent shape.
