SB Nation’s The 7th Floor Blog gives us the full scoop on Miami OT Orlando Franklin.
2011 NFL Draft: OT Orlando Franklin, Miami Hurricanes
Height/weight: 6’6”, 316 pounds .
Bio: Orlando Franklin has that nastiness that you like to see in your offensive linemen, and has been a huge part of Miami’s success running the ball the last few years. Franklin played his Sophomore and most of his Junior season at Left Guard. Miami’s lack of depth forced Franklin to move to Left Tackle for his Senior season, where he played the entire season with a knee injury.
We think Orlando Franklin is a much better fit at guard, where he won’t be matched up against speedy edge-rushing Defensive Ends, and can get back to being the big nasty run blocking s.o.b. that we came to know and love at Miami. There’s been criticism that Franklin had a bit of a drop off in his Senior season, however we would anticipate that teams would recognize the move from guard to tackle and the knee injury as the likely cause, expect him to go somewhere in late second round.
