For one and a half years, Nyjer Morgan has given Washington Nationals fans a roller coaster ride in addition to his mostly mediocre play. Now, however, his time in D.C. is up. The Nationals have decided to trade Morgan to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor-league infield prospect Cutter Dykstra and cash, according to MLB.com's Bill Ladson.

The writing was on the wall for Morgan as soon as manager Jim Riggleman named Rick Ankiel the starting center fielder over him. Morgan interpreted this as a sign that the team didn't want him anymore, and said publicly that he believed his days with the Nationals were over. Two days later, they were, in fact, over.
Morgan had a difficult year last season, hitting just .253 with just a .319 on-base percentage. His speed is his best asset, but he was caught stealing 17 times last season, which led the NL. He also had some personal issues dog him, which showed up during an embarrassing benches-clearing brawl in Florida last season and a number of incidents on the basepaths. The combination of those incidents led to an extended suspension in September.
Dykstra, the son of former Phillies great Lenny Dykstra, is a 22-year old 2008 second-round pick that has yet to show significant progress in the minor leagues.
