Jimmer Fredette, Nolan Smith Lead 2011 All-America NCAA Basketball Team

The 2011 AP All-America NCAA basketball team was announced on Monday, and features at least three seniors for the first time since 2006. BYU's Jimmer Fredette was the leading vote-getter, and is joined by fellow seniors Nolan Smith (Duke) and JuJuan Johnson (Purdue). The two underclassmen rounding out the All-America team are UConn's Kemba Walker and Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, the lone freshman on the team.

Fredette was nearly a unanimous decision, receiving 64 of 65 votes for the All-America team by the AP writers who also decide the weekly top 25 poll during the season. He becomes the first BYU All-America since Danny Ainge in 1981.

Duke’s Smith earned 61 votes for his outstanding senior season in which he led Duke to an ACC Tournament tile and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He’s the third Blue Devil to earn All-America status since 2000.

Sullinger received the third-most votes with 58, followed by Walker and Johnson.
