There aren't many more young players more in demand than Alexis Sanchez and now the bidding for the Udinese star has begun. After rumors of a bid from Chelsea in the January transfer window, Udinese chairman Franco Soldati has confirmed that the club has received a bid for the 22-year-old. As expected, it's a big money bid checking in at a minimum of €30 million.
Udinese Reveal Big Money Bid For Alexis Sanchez
“Sanchez is of interest of British and Italian teams,” Soldati told Sky Italia. “Somebody has already offered (for Alexis Sanchez) a figure close to 30-35 million euros but I cannot say by whom (we have received it)”.
It was only a matter of time before the bids started for Sanchez. Over the last year rumors of interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, among others, have been swirling. The Chilean's stature only grew this weekend when he scored four times in Udinese's 7-0 demolition of Palermo to give him 11 on the season.
Also an important player for the Chile national team, Sanchez's valuation has continued to rise over the last year and a €30 million bid might not even reach Udinese's valuation of him. Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini spoke to Sanchez's valuation, noting that recent transfers have only pushed it higher.
"A evaluation of €25 million for Sanchez? Looking at what has been paid for (Luis) Suarez, (Fernando) Torres and David Luiz in England, I think Sanchez will also apply to more than €25 million," Larini told Calciomercato.
Larini went on to say that any assessment on Sanchez’s value or decision to sell or not sell him will be made in the summer. Whether Sanchez wants to make a move to a bigger club is also up in the air as the player spoke highly of Udinese, but did not rule out the possibility of a move in the future.
With Sanchez’s scintillating performances and so many big clubs waiting to poach him it is tough to imagine him staying with Udinese for much longer, but the club is sure to make a nice sum of money on their young star.
