At the end of the second period of Tuesday's Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens game, Zdeno Chara and Max Pacioretty were battling for a puck toward the benches when Chara sends Pacioretty into the glass median between the two benches.
VIDEO: Zdeno Chara Shoves Max Pacioretty Into Glass, Causing Apparent Neck Injury
A word of warning: this video isn’t for the faint of heart, so don’t say you weren’t warned:
Chara was given a five minute interference major and a game misconduct and Pacioretty was carted off the ice on a stretcher.
According to reports, he was conscious when he left the building and was taken to the nearest hospital for evaluation. NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell was in the building for the game due to the massive brawl that broke out between the two teams in their last meeting. There will be considerable question as to whether the hit was dirty and whether Chara will be suspended for the hit and for how long.
