Knicks At Grizzlies: Amare Stoudemire, Zach Randolph Battle To Keep Winning Streaks Alive
The Knicks most recently destroyed the Utah Jazz by a score of 131-109 in a game that saw Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony combine for 65 points. New York shot a blistering 56 percent from the floor in that game. New York is expected to be without the services of guard Chauncey Billups, who has missed four straight games with an injured quadriceps suffered when he collided with Orlando's Dwight Howard. Toney Douglas has been starting at the point for the Knicks and is 3-1 in the games that Billups has been out. New York is 5-3 since the Anthony trade.
The Grizzlies are coming off of an impressive 107-101 victory over Oklahoma City on Monday. Mike Conley scored 20 points while dishing out nine assists for Memphis in the win. The most impressive part of the Grizzlies strong play of late is that they have done it without the services of Rudy Gay, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Zach Randolph is having another phenomenal season, averaging 20 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. A big part in determining the outcome of tonight's game will be who wins the battle between Stoudemire and Zach Randolph.
Tonight's game is the first of two regular season meeting between the clubs, as they will play again next Thursday at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are currently 33-29 on the season and just three games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. Memphis checks in at 36-29 and are just a half game behind New Orleans for the seventh spot in the West. The Grizzlies are 22-9 at home this season while the Knicks are 15-16 on the road.
