The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were one of the NFL's surprises in the 2010-11 season as they went from a 3-13 bottom-feeder to a 10-6 near-playoff team. The Bucs' turnaround was nothing short of incredible as they brought along QB Josh Freeman, a first round pick, and head coach Raheem Morris.
GM Mark Dominik Gets Four-Year Contract Extension With Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Engineering the turnaround was GM Mark Dominik, who was hired in 2009 after the departure of GM Bruce Allen. For Dominik’s efforts, the Bucs have handed him a four-year contract extension, the team announced.
“I am appreciative of the confidence the Glazer family has in the direction of the franchise,” Dominik said. “I am looking forward to working into my 20th year as a proud part of this community and organization. The mission is to continue building this team into a lasting contender and to bring championships back to the Tampa Bay area.”
Dominik originally came to Tampa Bay in 1995 as a pro scout and helped form the roster that landed the Bucs the 202 Super Bowl.
Morris deserves some credit for coaching the youngest roster in the league but Dominik landed the right players to help with the turnaround. Now Dominik has a new contract as the Bucs try to go from surprise turnaround team to perennial playoff team.
