UGA’s Trinton Sturdivant Suffers Third Season-Ending ACL Injury

Should you ever forget that Crazy Old Testament God is the god of college football, Georgia's would-be starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant is here to remind you. After one steady season blocking for Matt Stafford in 2007, a left ACL tear that sidelined him for 2008, another left ACL tear that sidelined him for 2009, what does Sturdivant do? Bypasses the NFL draft after regaining his starting spot in 2010, returns to Athens, and tears his right ACL in a scrimmage.

Head athletic trainer Ron Courson said, through a team spokesman, that Sturdivant will “undergo surgery sometime this week to repair the knee ligament and is expected to conduct his rehab at UGA.”

Even for those of us who loathe Georgia football with the heat of a thousand suns, this is patently, cosmically unfair. College football has lost another excellent name, and wee Aaron Murray has lost some much-needed protection on his blind side. SB Nation's Dawg Sports grits their collective teeth and wishes the hole in their O-line well:

This is a tough break for a damn good ‘Dawg who deserved better than this heading into his final season of collegiate competition. Get well soon, Trinton.Stay tuned to Dawg Sports and this StoryStream for more news on Sturdivant’s progress as we hear about it. Does the NCAA grant three-season medical hardship waivers?
