Clayton Kershaw pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the San Francisco Giants for a 6-1 victory Monday night in San Francisco. Kershaw has thrown 23-2/3 consecutive scoreless innings against the Giants, dating back to last August 1.
Dodgers Vs. Giants: Clayton Kershaw Too Much For San Francisco
The Dodgers scored first, with the Giants giving away outs early. Matt Kemp looked like he was picked off trying to steal, but he beat the throw to second base. Kemp came around to score when Freddy Sanchez let a James Loney line drive go off his glove, turning a potential double play into the Dodgers' first run of the game.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner looked good early, but struggled in the fifth. Rod Barajas led off the inning with a solo home run, and the next six hitters reached base. A Pat Burrell error on a single gave the Dodgers a 5-0 lead, and the game was out of reach.
The series continues tomorrow, with Chad Billingsley going for the Dodgers and Tim Lincecum pitching for the Giants.
