It's early, but the Boston Red Sox are in last place in the American League East after a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. David Price pitched 7-2/3 innings, allowing just two runs on five hits to out-duel Jon Lester for the win. The Red Sox have yet to string two wins together, and are in danger of being swept by the Rays, who came into the series with just one win to their credit.

Tampa Bay scored three runs in the fifth to grab a 3-1 lead. Internet sensation Sam Fuld drove in the first, grounding into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to plate Kelly Shoppach, trying the game at one. Johnny Damon singled home Dan Johnson and Eric Johnson in the next at-bat, giving Price all the runs he would need.
Darnell McDonald put the Red Sox on the board first in the third with a solo shot to lead off the inning. Jed Lowrie tacked on another run in the sixth to bring Boston to within one with an RBI single, scoring Dustin Pedroia.
Tampa Bay improved to 3-8 on the season while Boston fell to 2-9, five games behind the first-place Baltimore Orioles in the AL East. The Red Sox try to avoid the series sweep as they host the Rays Wednesday at 7:10 p.m ET.
