This season's first five games between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants all featured a similar theme -- poor Giants defense and timely Dodgers hitting. San Francisco turned the tables on Tuesday night, defeating Los Angeles, 5-4.
Dodgers Vs. Giants: San Francisco Comes Back To Take Second Game Of Series
Both starting pitchers were untouchable until the fourth inning, when Tim Lincecum got into trouble. After the first Dodgers was retired, five straight hitters reached base, with the final blow an opposite-field RBI double by Juan Uribe that gave Los Angeles a 3-0 lead.
The Giants bounced right back, touching up Chad Billingsley for two consecutive two-out hits to cut the lead to 3-2. San Francisco went ahead in the fifth inning when a two-out single from Buster Posey, who finished the night with three hits, gave the Giants a 4-3 lead that held up until Marcus Thames sent a moon shot deep into the left-field bleachers, tying the game.
The hero for the night, though, was the beleaguered Aaron Rowand, the $60 million man who lost his starting spot to a minor league free agent last season. Rowand contributed an RBI single in the fifth inning, and led off the seventh with a booming triple into right-center field. He scored on a wild pitch, and his run was decisive.
Brian Wilson came into the game sporting a 33.75 ERA, but he was perfect in the ninth for his first save of the season.
The series concludes tomorrow with Ted Lilly going for the Dodgers and Jonathan Sanchez going for the Giants.
