The Cleveland Indians are one of the better stories of the early baseball season, and they entered Tuesday's game with an eight-game winning streak. They ran into a buzzsaw with a nasty split-finger, though, as Dan Haren composed a one-hit masterpiece. The Los Angeles Angels defeated the upstart Indians, 2-0.
Indians Vs. Angels: Dan Haren One-Hits Cleveland To End Winning Streak
The only hit that Haren allowed in his nine innings of work was Shin-Soo Choo's solid fourth-inning single to center field. Haren walked two and struck out eight in the complete game, throwing 125 pitches and not allowing a runner past first base.
Los Angeles scored their two runs on solo home runs, with one from Peter Bourjos in the third inning and the other from Mark Trumbo in the seventh. Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona was the tough-luck loser for the second straight start, allowing two earned runs in 7 2/3 innings.
The series concludes tomorrow, with Carlos Carrasco, one of the key prospects in the Cliff Lee trade, going for the Indians. Ervin Santana will look for his first win of the season for the Angels.
