Derrick Williams has announced he'll enter the 2011 NBA Draft, planning to sign with an agent. The six-foot-eight behemoth seemed to come out of nowhere in the NCAA Tournament for most casual fans, looking particularly unstoppable in the Arizona Wildcats' blowout of the Duke Blue Devils.
Derrick Williams Announces 2011 NBA Draft Entry After Sophomore Season
In a statement released by the University of Arizona:
After careful consideration and with the support of my family and Coach Miller, I have decided to declare for the 2011 NBA Draft. I have enjoyed my two years at Arizona both on and off the court. I want to thank my teammates, who are like brothers to me, my coaches and all Wildcat Fans for making my experience an unforgettable one. I will finish this semester at the U of A in good academic standing and plan on continuing to pursue my college degree in the future. I am a Wildcat for life.
In SB Nation's pre-draft lottery mock, Williams went No. 4 to the Washington Wizards, who may not be picking anywhere near No. 4.
