Their return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs didn't exactly go as the Tampa Bay Lightning planned, but on Friday night in Game 2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, they can quickly right a series that went suddenly wrong in Game 1.
Lightning Vs. Penguins, Game 2: Tampa Bay Hopes Get Offense Going, Even Series
There were a lot of positives for the Bolts in the first game of the series, but the problem was that they basically just came in the first period. In fact, Tampa essentially controlled the entire first 20 minutes of Game 1 before the Penguins slowly chipped their way back in, ultimately cracking the Dwayne Roloson seal twice in a matter of 18 seconds en route to victory.
For the Lightning to beat Marc-Andre Fleury on Friday night, they're going to need a bit of the magic they showed in the first period. Steven Stamkos and the other Lightning scorers will simply need to be better over the course of 60 minutes. If that happens, goals should come, and when goals come first for the Lightning, they're liable to have success in this series.
If you’re the Penguins, though, you need to be opportunistic. The scoring punch isn’t as hard as what Tampa can throw, so you need to play a strong defensive game, get those key saves from Fleury and then attack when the opportunity presents itself.
It’ll be Roloson vs. Fleury in net once again, and the game begins at 7 p.m. ET. Get up to speed with our blogs: Raw Charge covering the Lightning, Pensburgh covering the Penguins. You can find full SBNation.com coverage of this series here.
