It's been an interesting season for both sides, although not a particularly good one. Wigan are last in the league having spent the vast majority of the season in the relegation zone, and despite their attractive footballing ways, with no ability to defend and a combination of poor striker and abysmal luck up front it's hard to argue that they should be any higher than 20th. Blackpool, meanwhile, are just two points ahead of them in 17th - this is nominally a 'safe' position but until the season's over it's the equivalent to sitting in a rubber dinghy while surrounded by Megalodon fins.
Premier League Saturday: Blackpool Host Wigan In Relegation Clash
Unlike Wigan, Blackpool score plenty of goals, but they leak them at an even more alarming rate. While Wigan have conceded 52 goals in 32 matches, Blackpool have shipped an astonishing 66. It’s almost comical how inept their defence has been, and if the Tangerines do end up dropping into the Championship, it’ll be pretty clear who’s to blame.
