Klay Thompson Chooses 2011 NBA Draft Entry Over Washington State Return, Sort Of

Washington St. Cougars guard Klay Thompson held a conference call with press Monday afternoon, explaining why he's electing to enter the 2011 NBA Draft. He did leave open the possibility of returning to college if he finds out he won't earn a first-round selection, however, describing himself as "99 percent" sure he's leaving school. Thompson:

"That's not set in stone, but that'd be a major influence if I don't get that guaranteed contract," Thompson said when asked if he'd come back if he's not in the first round. "Why not come back and finish my senior year and get that NCAA Tournament.

The six-foot-six junior says he’s 24 credits away from graduating from WSU. Many will recall Thompson from his earlier appearance in the national news, when he was suspended late in the year for a marijuana possession arrest. At the moment, he’s expected to go in the first round, but NBA general managers are going to have plenty of questions about his off-court decision-making.
