Presenting The Ever-Exotic ‘Hail Delay’

We’re all familiar with the rain delay, in which baseball players take a break for absolutely no reason and the TV station replaces the broadcast with a Fresh Prince episode, most commonly the one in which Uncle Phil hustles pool and imparts a valuable life lesson.

The hail delay, though, is a far less common animal. We’re seeing it during Saturday’s Braves-Nationals game. Photo evidence is after the jump.

Play actually continued through the hail for a pitch or two until it was halted. For what it’s worth, the Nationals Park faithful heartily booed the stoppage in play.

Follow along with this game at our Braves blog, Talking Chop, and our Nationals blog, Federal Baseball.
