While nothing is official yet, all signs indicate that the Atlanta Braves will be placing pitcher Jair Jurrjens on the 15-day disabled list which would knock him out of making his first scheduled start this Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jair Jurrjens Likely Headed To The Disabled List
Jurrjens hasn't pitched in a game since being removed from a March 24 spring training game against Toronto with soreness in his right side. He is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Sunday before the Braves make anything official. If Jurrjens is disabled, Atlanta would likely turn to lefty Mike Minor as his replacement.
Jurrjens' disabled list stint would be retroactive and he would be eligible to return as soon as next Saturday against the Phillies. He would also have time to go down to the minors and make a rehab start.
At this point it appears Atlanta may be erring on the side of caution with Jurrjens, who was hampered by various injuries throughout last season.
