On Saturday afternoon, the Blue Jays triumphed over the Twins in decisive fashion in Toronto, this time by a 6-1 margin. Jays rookie Kyle Drabek delivered an impressive performance to secure his first career win in the major leagues.
Blue Jays Vs. Twins: Toronto’s Kyle Drabek Earns First Career Win
Drabek pitched five innings of no-hit ball before the Twins’ Denard Span finally broke through with a single. He lasted seven innings, giving up one run, one hit, and three walks while striking out seven. It was the fourth career start for the 23-year-old, who, of course, is the son of Doug Drabek, who won the 1990 Cy Young Award and notched a 3.73 ERA over 13 seasons.
In their first two games of the 2011 season, the Jays have absolutely punished the Twins, outscoring them by a combined 19-4 margin. On Saturday, Toronto’s Jose Molina and Jayson Nix homered, and Shawn Camp and Marc Rzepczynski each contributed an inning of scoreless relief work.
