The New York Mets broke their seven-game home losing streak Thursday night with a 9-1 laugher against the Astros, but all wasn't well as they lost center fielder Angel Pagan with a pulled oblique muscle. For his part, Pagan didn't seem particularly concerned. From MLB.com:
Mets’ Angel Pagan Leaves Game With Pulled Oblique
Pagan, who missed time last year with an oblique strain that nearly landed him on the disabled list, estimated that he may miss two or three games.
“I don’t think it’s as bad as last year,” he said. “Hopefully, it will only take a few days and I can be back for the team and start playing well.”
Pagan's off to a terrible start this season, currently mired in a 2-for-28 slump and batting just .159 overall. In his short-term absence, the Mets figure to go with a platoon of Willie Harris and Scott Hairston.
On a happier note, Jason Bay returned to the Mets' lineup Thursday night and hit a double in four at-bats.
