Attention, fans of teams other than ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie: Your club ‘bad boy’ is kind of a joke. Unless, that is, there is another professional footballer on trial for owning a ‘major’ marijuana plantation, forgery and money laundering that I’m somehow unaware of, in which case: Wow, Gino Coutinho appears to have a twin.
Dutch Goalkeeper Gino Coutinho On Trial For Owning Cannabis Plantation
The Dutch goalkeeper, you see, is currently looking at a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty - and the fact that he was caught on the farm (registered in his name) during a police raid doesn’t seem like it will help his cause much - and if he does go to prison one would strongly suspect that his career as a professional footballer is done. This is problematic for him and for the club, because having your first choice goalkeeper go to jail in the middle of the season isn’t particularly helpful when you’re in fifth place in the Eredivisie with a shot at the Europa league.
Manager John van den Brom is said to be ‘disappointed’ in Coutinho’s behaviour. You don’t say.
