We have spent countless hours reviewing college games in an attempt to produce scouting reports for each of the prospects. However, time is running out so we decided to release some scouting notes in order to cover a wider range of prospects.

Austin Pettis
6'2, 209 pounds | Wide Receiver | Boise State
Final Word: Pettis is going to be the type of player that sticks on an NFL roster due to his ability to contribute as a special teamer. He has experience as a kick holder and has the drive to contribute on coverage teams, think Rashad Davis of the Bears. As a wide receiver, his upside is limited due to his struggles creating separation. He lacks the short area quickness and speed to consistently threaten the defense. However, he will find some successes against zone schemes as he is able to identify the holes in the defense. Overall, Pettis will provide wide receiver depth with the ability to help out on special teams. Don’t look for him to be a game breaker at the next level.

Notes:
- Pettis uses his hands to pluck the football of the air
- He routinely gets the ball at its highest point utilizing his size well
- Pettis showed the ability make the tough catch in traffic
- However, he had more than a few drops as he appears to loose focus as the ball approaches
- Pettis runs with good balance and pad level working to avoid wasted motions
- His routes are clean and crisp as he snaps off and works his way back towards the quarterback
- While at Boise State, he ran a wide array of routes giving him a decent base heading into the NFL
- Pettis knows how to read a defense and find the open holes
- He has a good feel for the defense around him and just has a nose for finding the openings
- Pettis works hard to contribute as a run blocker
- He brings added value as a special team performer by holding kicks
- Looks like he could really contribute on special teams consistently which will increase his value
- Pettis is not overly athletic
- He does not have good lateral movements and will struggle to create after the catch
- He is not a 2 stepper and takes a while to get to his top speed
- Pettis does not have a 2nd gear that would allow him to out run defenders
- His lack of short area burst hinders his ability to create separationHe knows how to use his body to block the defender from the football
