Initially, MRI results on Aaron Hill's hamstring were inconclusive. Upon closer inspection, though, the MRI revealed a strain, and when Hill tried to jog on Saturday, he said that his hamstring "didn't feel so hot". As a result, the Blue Jays opted on Sunday to place their second baseman on the disabled list.
Aaron Hill Hamstring Injury Lands Second Baseman On DL
The DL stint is retroactive to April 20, so Hill will actually be eligible to return in the middle of next week, but it remains to be seen whether he’s healthy enough by that point, as the Blue Jays won’t want to push him too hard this early in the season. Especially given that he’s had problems with the hamstring in the past.
Hill was off to a slow start this season, with a .555 OPS through 16 games. Mike McCoy has made a couple of starts at second base in his absence, and he and John McDonald stand to see some temporary increases in playing time for the next little while.
