They say that once you get to a Game 7, anything can happen. And if you're like the Tampa Bay Lightning, down 3-2 in your NHL playoff series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, you'd love to have that Game 7 on your home ice.
Penguins Vs. Lightning, Game 6: Simon Gagne, Steven Stamkos Try To Keep Rolling; Bolts Try To Force Game 7
But if anything can happen in the final game, so if you’re the team that needs to win in order to force that final game, wouldn’t you see having Game 6 on home ice as the advantage?
The Bolts need a win on Monday night, and they hope that it'll be an edge for them. Of all the reasons for the home crowd to feel good about their team's prospects in Game 6 and the series, the emergence of Steven Stamkos and Simon Gagne in Tampa's huge 8-2 win in the do-or-die Game 5 rings the loudest.
Those guys had been quiet in the first four games, and as a result, the Penguins were able to shut the Tampa attack down rather easily. With those two firing, the Lightning are tough for any team to corral -- even the newly-defensive-minded Pens.
Of course, Marc-Andre Fleury and Dwayne Roloson are in the nets again for Game 6. For more on the game, check in with our blogs: Pensburgh covering Pittsburgh and Raw Charge covering Tampa Bay.
