In the morning, San Francisco Giants utility player Mark DeRosa was the subject of trade rumors. In the afternoon, he's on the disabled list. From Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News:
Mark DeRosa Injury Puts Utility Player On Disabled List
Looks like Mark DeRosa is heading to the DL. Manny Burriss coming up.The injury wasn’t specified, but DeRosa missed most of last season with a wrist injury that he first sustained in 2009. He had been complaining of discomfort in the wrist recently, and was pulled from a rare start due to the discomfort.
To take DeRosa’s spot on the 25-man roster, the Giants have recalled middle infielder Manny Burriss, who has a career major league line of .269/.329/.302. Burriss was off to an extremely hot start in AAA Fresno, hitting .344/.423/.426 in his first 61 at-bats.
Shortly into the second year of a two-year, $12M contract, DeRosa has 124 total at-bats for the Giants. He was 6-for-18 to start this season, mostly as a pinch-hitter.
