Missouri Basketball Coaching Search Reportedly Includes Tubby Smith Contact
The Minnesota coach has been consistent all offseason when asked about leaving for other opportunities. He was a hot rumor during the beginnings of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets coaching search due to his Peach State ties, but insisted, "I'm going to finish my career here."
Mizzou thought it had a head coach in Matt Painter, but the Purdue coach was able to parlay the Tigers’ interest into a Purdue raise. Their former coach, Mike Anderson, began the coaching search by leaving to take the head job at Arkansas.
In four years at Minnesota, Smith has reached the postseason three times. He led Kentucky to a 1998 national title and has also coached Georgia and Tulsa. He was also an assistant at VCU in the ‘70s. Hey! VCU played basketball in the ‘70s!
