Walden is one of the hardest throwers in baseball, and Fangraphs has his average fastball velocity for 2010 as being 98.8 miles per hour. It isn’t so surprising, then, that over 18.2 Major League innings, he’s struck out 29 Major League batters.

Yet as a reliever in AA and AAA last season, he whiffed just 41 batters over 49.2 frames. Which is the actual Jordan Walden?
