Best Of The SB Nation Network: April 6, 2011

We have 304 fantastic sports blogs in SB Nation, so in case you didn’t have a chance to read them all today we’ve collected the best stuff right here. Get sports smart in no time fast!

College Sports

- N.C. State hired former Alabama coach Mark Gottfried yesterday, but the school inexplicably allowed the news to be overshadowed by AD Debbie Yow’s claim that the coaching search was sabotaged by Maryland head basketball coach Gary Williams. Terrapin blog Testudo Times finds it amusing that Yow made the statement with Gottfried sitting right next her. BC Interruption is not impressed with either the hire or Yow’s handling of it.

- Track Em Tigers suggests that it’s time for Auburn to go on the offensive to combat the continuing surge of negative publicity for the program.

- Team Speed Kills identifies SEC coaches’ cost-per-win for 2010, finding that both Mississippi State and Auburn got their money’s worth.

Baseball

- AZ SnakePit breaks down the first week of Diamondbacks baseball.

- Minor League Ball profiles the career of the recently retired Randy Winn.

- Let’s Go Tribe reacts to the tiny, tiny crowd that showed up to watch the Indians take on the Red Sox in Cleveland on Tuesday night.

- The Good Phight says that even though Joe Blanton is an afterthought in the Phillies’ Rotation Of Aces™, he’s a good pitcher with some unique qualities.

Hockey

- Behind The Net on the luck involved with scoring goals.

- Broad Street Hockey with a look at Corsi numbers in the last 26 games. Can they explain the Flyers struggles?

- On the Forecheck has a nice look at potential first-round matchups for the Nashville Predators.

- A look at the recent draft history of the Eagles from Bleeding Green Nation.

- Niners Nation breaks down a strong class of rush linebackers.

- Blaine Gabbert is a popular pick in mocks for the Cardinals, but Revenge Of The Birds doesn’t necessarily agree.

Basketball

- Dwight Howard picked up another technical foul and faces yet another suspension. Poor Dwight -- why does the league hate him? Orlando Pinstripe Post has the details.

- The Thunder beat the Nuggets in a battle of potential playoff foes. Welcome To Loud City has the winners view. We vanquished the loser.

- The best game this week was between Texas A&M and Notre Dame for the NCAA Women’s Championship. Swish Appeal has not one, but two great recaps of a game you regret missing (unless you saw it).

Combat Sports

- MMA Mania looks at Keith Jardine and the other fighters who are ready and willing to step into a short-notice bout.
