Australia and Blackpool full back David Carney may miss the entirety of the run-in to the end of the season with a shoulder injury, according to Blackpool's official Twitter account. Carney, 27, signed with the Premier League newcomers in September after twice representing Australia during the 2010 World Cup, but his first season with Blackpool has seen him plagued by injury. The defender has managed just 72 minutes of first-team action since Dec. 2nd, and now requires surgery for a shoulder problem which will probably force him to start afresh next August:
David Carney Shoulder Injury Set To End Blackpool Defender’s Season
David [C]arney will need a shoulder operation, which could rule the Australian out for the rest of the season.
While this is obviously a major blow for Blackpool, with the club at serious risk of relegation over the next few games, what might be a bigger story is that the club’s official Twitter feed only has 749 followers. You’ve got to do better than that, Tangerine tweeter.
