Hanley Ramirez Suffers Apparent Leg Injury During Marlins-Astros game

On Friday night, Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez suffered an apparent leg injury while in the field. The Astros' Bill Hall slid into his lower left leg, and while the nature of the injury isn't immediately clear, Ramirez had to be helped off the field.

The injury occurred in the bottom of the seventh, with the Astros leading, 2-1. Ramirez went 0-for-3 in his three plate appearances Friday evening.

Losing Ramirez, it goes without saying, would be an enormous blow for the Marlins. Having already lost their best hitter in 2010, Dan Uggla, to free agency, the loss of a franchise player is even worse news for a team as low-budget as Florida.

Reporters have yet to elaborate on Ramirez’s injury, opting only to tweet that it looks bad. We’ll be updating with more details as they become available.
