Clay Hensley Injury: MRI Reveals Fracture

Florida Marlins reliever Clay Hensley hurt himself after slipping and falling on hotel stairs on April 26. The initial diagnosis was a bruised rib, but on Monday an MRI revealed a hairline fracture in his left scapula. From the Miami Herald:

While Hensley said he was told it would take four to six weeks for the fracture to heal completely, it is the bruising and swelling in that region that is keeping him off the mound. He said that, once the swelling subsides, he could still pitch even with the fracture.Hensley told the Herald that he’s expecting to be back within 15 days, barring any setbacks in simulated games or rehab assignments.

The Marlins' bullpen has done a good job of keeping runs off the board this season, even without Hensley. His replacement on the 25-man roster, Burke Badenhop, has thrown 1-2/3 innings, allowing one hit and no runs with two strikeouts.
