The Boston Red Sox have announced that they are skipping Daisuke Matsuzaka's turn in the rotation for their weekend series against the New York Yankees. From WEEI.com:

The Red Sox will shuffle their rotation for the upcoming weekend series in New York, sending Clay Buchholz, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester to the mound (in that order) for the three-game set. That means that Daisuke Matsuzaka -- who had been slotted between Buchholz and Beckett in the past turn of the rotation -- will be bumped back.
Part of this surely has to do with Dice-K’s elbow tenderness, which he says is still a concern when he pitches, but a much larger part of the decision surely has to do with the Red Sox lining up their three best pitchers to face the Yankees in New York. The Red Sox have a day off on Thursday, so no one will have to pitch on short rest.
