Larry Bird will continue in his role as the Indiana Pacers' president of basketball operations, the team announced Tuesday. David Morway will also remain as the team's general manager. There had been questions as to whether Bird would keep his job after a string of losing seasons for Indiana, but the Pacers rallied in April to make the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2006, and then competed well against the Chicago Bulls despite succumbing to a 4-1 series loss.
Larry Bird Will Remain In Charge Of Indiana Pacers
The Pacers have an interesting offseason ahead, with players like Mike Dunleavy entering free agency. It remains to be seen whether the Pacers will attempt to flip Danny Granger for a more high-profile star scorer to kick-start the team's offense; Indiana's defense was quite respectable by the end of the season, and Paul George looks like a real find.
The more immediate concern will be whether the team retains coach Frank Vogel, who took over for Jim O'Brien midseason. Vogel availed himself well in the playoffs.
