From the Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien, an unwelcome tweet about Jason Heyward:
Jason Heyward Has Sore Shoulder, Needs MRI
Braves' Heyward has sore r. shoulder, said it's bothered him since spring, worsened tonight, had some numbness in forearm. He'll get MRI
Heyward’s been terrible in May, going just 2-for-28 while his batting average plummeted from .263 to .220 in the span of just nine games. Heyward told O’Brien the shoulder has really affected him, saying, “It hasn’t felt good, really, for any consistent period of time. I tried to play through it.”
What’s particularly troubling about this latest setback is that Heyward dealt with a variety of injuries last season, and then again this spring during training camp. He’s obviously got all the talent in the world, but each additional injury increases one’s fear that his immense talent may ultimately get buried by his inability to stay healthy for long.
If Heyward is forced to the sidelines for a spell, Eric Hinske and Joe Mather should see most of the action in right field, as the Braves don't have any hot outfield prospects lurking down in Class AAA.
