Attention Sports: Please Stop Giving Teeth To Animals That Do Not Have Teeth

Welp. The University of Richmond Spiders have decided upon a new logo. I sure hope it’s a sneering animal that shows teeth even though the animal in question does not actually have any teeth!

↵This is an issue that has plagued American sports, and especially college athletic institutions, for the last 10 to 15 years: every mascot has to be mean. Every anthropomorphized animal has to give off this weird simultaneous sneerfrown.

↵And, I mean, that’s your prerogative, but my completely unsolicited advice is this: your college program is all about tradition, right? You want alumni who graduated 30 years ago to identify with the little things. The colors, the mascot, et cetera. How are they supposed to do that if by that point, every school’s mascot is a barely dissimilar shade of the same thing?
