Matthew Barnaby, the ex-NHL player who worked as an analyst for ESPN and TSN, was arrested for the second time since May. He pleaded guilty to four violations, including driving while intoxicated.
Matthew Barnaby Pleads Guilty To DWI, Avoids Jail
Former ESPN NHL analyst Matthew Barnaby plead guilty to four violations that were connected to a DWI arrest. From the AP:
Barnaby avoided jail time by agreeing to a plea deal, as well as possible deportation. He was sentenced 100 hours of community service, alcohol abuse counseling, and $1,950 in fines. He also had his license revoked after refusing to do a field sobriety test.

Monday, ESPN terminated the contract of NHL analyst and former NFL player Matthew Barnaby after he was arrested and charged with DWI overnight.
ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz released a statement, saying, “We spoke with Matthew and informed him we terminated his ESPN contract, effective immediately.”

Oh, he was also drunk, according to the Erie County, N.Y. Sheriff.
Barnaby was in trouble with the law back in May, ultimately getting sentenced to 500 hours of community service after an incident with his estranged wife and her new boyfriend. He was offered an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, or ACD, but according to WGRZ, that offer is now in jeopardy.

If he completes the 500 hours of community service in the course of a year, charges will be dropped, in which case Barnaby, who is Canadian, will not be deported. He will also be required to attend counseling for anger management.
Barnaby’s lawyer sounded pleased with the result, as well he should have been, given that Barnaby could have been sentenced to years in jail.
