They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I’m thinking this one may be worth more. So much more.
Points to ponder from the NASCAR Nationwide Series 5-hour ENERGY 200 late race wreck

I’m not going to go into great detail of each aspect of the above picture, I’m merely going to plant the seed so your active imaginations can do that.
Here are some of the things I want you to consider;
- How lucky Logano is that Bowyer’s car stopped tearing into his car right at the ‘B’ piller which is roughly where the back of the driver’s seat is?
- Look at the wall just above the car in the far right of the picture. See that black mark? That is the concrete wall. Logano hit just before that right where the Safer Barrier is tapering off into the concrete wall. Why isn’t that Safer Barrier continued down the straightaway? See how far back that front wheel is pushed in on the right side of Logano’s car? He hit hard. What if his car had spun around instead and he hit on the driver’s side?
- Speaking of Safer Barrier, I’m awful glad that the inside retaining wall had some and was able to absorb some of Bowyer’s impact.
- How ironic, in a sad way, is it that a spring from Bowyer’s car breaks free upon impact and flies across Pit Road and hits one of his own crew members in the leg. The crew member was taken to the infield car center and at the time of this writing we do not know what condition his leg is in.
O.K. so that was about 200 words. That leaves you with about 800 of your own words to come up with, which I’m sure you did after reading what I just wrote.
Do you have any other ‘points to ponder’ about this picture? I’d be interested in hearing them.
