Today is the final matchday in the 2010-2011 German Bundesliga season. The title is wrapped up, the European positions are wrapped up, but we still have that little detail called “relegation” with which to deal.
Ongoing, Bundesliga Saturday: Frankfurt, ‘Gladbach, and Wolfsburg Fight For Survival
Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and VfL Wolfsburg will be clamoring for those final precious three points against Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg, and Hoffenheim respectively. Frankfurt have been struggling mightily over the last few weeks, and it does not look good for them heading into the last match against this season's champions at the Westfalenstadion. 'Gladbach have been on incredible form lately with three wins in a row and four wins out of their last five. They'll be on the road against Hamburg who will be saying goodbye today to Ruud van Nistelrooy, Piotr Trochowski, and Collin Benjamin. Wolfsburg head to Hoffenheim with a squad that is far too talented to be relegated.
There will be a massive celebration today in Dortmund as this season’s champions will lift the “salad bowl”. Tomorrow they will have an open-top bus ride through the city of Dortmund to celebrate their championship where they expect to share the championship with a couple hundred thousand people.
