The United States Women’s National Team has gathered in Columbus, Ohio today for the first of two matches against Japan.

The United States will be without captain Christie Rampone who has a groin injury. It will be interesting to keep an eye on Becky Sauerbrunn in the back to see how she does filling in that position. Amy LePielbet also has an ankle injury, but she may still see some time tonight.
The USWNT will now begin seriously preparing for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany. The American’s first match is June 28. The group consists of USA, North Korea, Colombia, and Sweden.
This match is on the Fox Soccer Channel and kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm EDT.
