Reggie Bush Open To Pay Cut To Remain With New Orleans Saints

The future of Reggie Bush isn't clear but one thing is coming into focus: he won't be making $11.8 million in 2011. The New Orleans Saints running back admitted that he will likely have to take a pay cut to return to New Orleans.

Bush indicated on Twitter shortly after the Saints selected RB Mark Ingram in the 2011 NFL draft that he didn't expect to be back in New Orleans. Since then, though, he's changed his tune and suggests he could return to the only NFL team he's ever known in his five-year career.

“This is something that me, my agent and the Saints have to collectively come together to talk about and just come to a meeting point - a happy medium - because obviously there’s going to have to be some type of pay cut,” Bush said. “There’s going to have to be some type of renegotiation.”

Bush simply isn’t as valuable as some thought he would be when the Saints opted to use the second pick on him in the 2006 draft. He’s not a feature back so his contract will need to be adjusted to reflect that.

If the Saints decide to simply release Bush and not bring him back, it’s unclear who would make a run at him. His best future, in my opinion, appears to be in New Orleans at a discounted rate.
