New York Yankees reliever Rafael Soriano has recently been dealing with some stiffness in his elbow that's kept him out of action. After being declared unavailable for the two-game series against the Rays beginning Monday, Soriano was scheduled to throw a Monday bullpen session that would go a long way towards determining his future availability.
Rafael Soriano To Have Elbow Examined On Tuesday
On Monday, Soriano threw said bullpen. It didn’t go very well. Via Bryan Hoch:
Yankees right-hander Rafael Soriano continued to feel stiffness in his pitching elbow during a bullpen session on Monday at Tropicana Field.
So what’s next? Soriano is going to get his elbow examined on Tuesday.
Yankees right-hander Rafael Soriano (right elbow stiffness) will be seen Tuesday by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad in New York. It sounds like a trip to the disabled list is a distinct possibility.
Soriano isn’t guaranteed to end up on the DL, but it’s looking pretty likely. And even if he avoids the list, he still isn’t going to pitch for several days. We’ll know more about Soriano’s status after his visit with Dr. Ahmad.
