Tonight the craziest draft event in all of sports will take place. The NBA Draft lottery is unlike anything else in sports as it lets pong balls decide the draft order. I understand the basics around having a lottery as it helps keep teams from purposely loosing towards the end of the season. However, it has rarely worked out for the worst team in the NBA with better teams usually ending up with the top selection.
NBA Draft Lottery Tonight
The NBA draft is very different from the NFL draft mainly because it features a lot less impact players. The NBA draft usually features 2 or 3 star players each year. Those stars are very hard to pin point because the draft is full of inexperienced players.
Imagine if the NFL draft order was determined by a lottery. It would make it very difficult for the bottom of the barrel teams to really improve their roster. Or would it save some teams from itself? Take this draft for example, if the Panthers would have lost the lottery they would likely have been unable to draft Cam Newton. And there are a ton of people that feel that selection was a mistake.
